Dividend Yield
Calculate the dividend yield ratio, a valuation ratio that measures the amount of dividends distributed per share of stock relative to the stock’s price.
The dividend yield ratio is used by investors to assess the income potential of an investment in a company’s stock based on the dividends it pays out. A higher dividend yield can be attractive to income-seeking investors.
The formula is as follows:
\[\text{Dividend Yield} = \text{Dividends per Share} / \text{Share Price}\]Also known as: annual dividend yield, income yield.

Calculate the Dividend Yield in Python
The Dividend Yield is available in the Ratios module of the open-source Finance Toolkit. Install it with:
pip install financetoolkit -U
Then call get_dividend_yield as shown below.
from financetoolkit import Toolkit
toolkit = Toolkit(["AAPL", "TSLA"], api_key="FINANCIAL_MODELING_PREP_KEY")
dividend_yield = toolkit.ratios.get_dividend_yield()
Which returns:
| 2021 | 2022 | 2023 | 2024 | 2025 | 2026 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| AAPL | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0.0029 | 0.0017 |
| TSLA | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
