Privacy Policy
Effective date: 4 November 2026
This page explains what data this website (jeroenbouma.com) and my own tools collect and what I do with it. In short: the site has no accounts, forms or comments, I don’t sell or share data, and my YouTube uploader only works with my own channel.
This website
Hosting. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages and served through Cloudflare. Like any web server, they process technical data such as your IP address, browser and the page you request to deliver the site and protect it against abuse. I don’t have access to those logs.
Plausible Analytics. I count visits with Plausible, which I run on my own server (plausible.jeroenbouma.com). It uses no cookies and stores no personal data: it records the page, the referring site, the country, the device type and clicks on links, such as those to my projects and profiles. I use these numbers to see which pages people read.
Google Analytics. The site also uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies (such as _ga) to tell repeat visits apart and sends your IP address and browser details to Google. I only look at the aggregate statistics. Google’s handling of this data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
Content from other services. Pages load fonts from Google Fonts and scripts from jsDelivr, and the search box sends what you type to Algolia to find results. On the Appearances page, video thumbnails load from YouTube, and a video only loads from YouTube when you press play, after which YouTube’s own policies apply. Each of these services receives your IP address when your browser fetches from it.
Your browser. The site remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme in your browser’s local storage. That setting never leaves your device.
Affiliate link. The link at jeroenbouma.com/fmp sends you to Financial Modeling Prep with my discount code. Plausible counts that visit; after that, Financial Modeling Prep’s own privacy policy applies.
YouTube API Services
I publish my own videos to my YouTube channel with a private tool, the Market Watcher uploader, which uses the YouTube API Services. By using it, I agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google’s handling of data through these services is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
- Who uses it. Only me. It is not offered to anyone else, and nobody else can sign in to it.
- What it accesses. It signs in with Google OAuth to my own YouTube channel only, with permission to upload videos and read-only access. It uploads my own videos, sets their thumbnails, and reads back the status of an upload and my channel’s own list of videos.
- What it stores. Only the OAuth token, which stays on my own server. It collects no data from visitors to this site or from other YouTube users.
- Sharing. It doesn’t share, sell or transfer any data to anyone.
- Revoking access. Access can be revoked at any time on Google’s security settings page: myaccount.google.com/permissions.
